APOLLO 10

Description:
This spacecraft was the second Apollo mission to orbit the moon,
check out the Apollo systems in the vicinity of the moon, and obtain
numerous photographs of the lunar surface. Apollo 10 accom-
plished lunar orbit 4 days after the May 18, 1969 launch. Both the
command service module (CSM) and the lunar module (LM), which
undocked and came within 50,000 ft (15,400 m) of the lunar surface,
performed successfully. The command module (CM) and crew
returned to earth on May 26, 1969.
