So Long Thanks for Coming!
Speakers from NASA, Lockheed Martin and the University communities will address
Lunar Prospector technology, lunar science and associated classroom resources. Lunar
Prospector, a NASA Discovery Mission, will take us back to the Moon. From Galileo's
first glimpses through a telescope to Armstrong's historic step, we on Earth have
been fascinated by the Moon. We've landed on the Moon; we've walked on the
Moon; and yet, we still know surprisingly little about the Moon. Lunar Prospector
with its complement of five science instruments and six experiments will fill the
gaps in our knowledge and understanding. Prospector will map Lunar elemental composition,
gravity fields, magnetic fields and resources. Prospector will provide insights into
the
origin and evolution of the Moon. And finally, Lunar Prospector will confirm for
us whether or not there is water ice on the Moon. Due to limited facilities we will
accept applications on a first-come basis. The program is developed for professional
educators; children or other family members cannot beaccepted.
You are urged to submit your registration immediately. Registration deadline is DECEMBER 5, 1997. We will also accept applications from those
who are attending only the afternoon and evening program. For further information
about the conference, please call (650) 604-5543. You will receive more detailed information
relating to the agenda after you return your registration form and have been enrolled
in the program. We anticipate a successful mission and look forward to meeting with
you.
