Mare Humboldtianum is located within the Humboldtianum
basin, just to the east of Mare Frigoris. The basin material
is of the Nectarian epoch, with the mare material being of
the Upper Imbrian epoch. The Mare is seen quite clearly
as a dark patch in the center of the photo. The lighter gray
area to the southeast of the dark mare material is a region
of hills within the basin.
The area in the upper-right corner of the photo is Bel'Kovich.
It is thought to be a separate crater, or a third part of the
inner basin. The dark sliver at the top of the photo is the
southern rim of the crater Hayn.
